Michael and Connie have settled into their home here and have established a community of friends around their art. It has been many years since I have been down here in the flatlands of Delaware.
I do not feel political but rather aesthetic, sensitive to line and color and shape, sound and motion and melody. This afternoon I listened for the first time to some political commentary. For the last part of this week I have been dislocated from the usual rhythms of my attention. No political news, no newspapers, no commentary, no following the war and the politics. But there have been many discussions of the past, and I have been delving into the memory of my hosts. I have not been involved with their professional and artistic lives for almost three decades, so there has been a lot to learn, a lot to pay attention to.
The weather is brisk, meaning cold and windy, so that the edge of your ears can be felt warming up after you have returned indoors. Tomorrow I leave on the Lewes to Cape May Ferry to begin the New Jersey portion of the month long journey.
